It is not easy to find a place to live in Amsterdam. Rooms are in great demand but unfortunately also in short supply. There is a shortage of housing in general, because the number of students in Amsterdam exceeds the number of rooms available. If you have not been allocated a room in student housing, you will need to find one on the private market. Although this may be quite difficult, there are a lot of resources to look into. Quite a few Dutch students studying in Amsterdam do not live in the city. They still live with their parents or rent a place in one of the towns around Amsterdam.
